Cool Edit Pro Burning Problems

Hello,
I have been trying to find a solution to this problem for years:
-We use Cool Edit Pro 2.0/2.1
-We have set-up several machines that will burn from Cool Edit to a particular make and model of CD-RW drive (CEP is fussy about which ones).
-Then several complain that they can no longer burn CD's. The burner hardware does not appear in the list of drives in CEP.
-Since Hardware has not changed, we try and review any other programs, updates they have installed that might have changed anything.
-Our staff REALLY want to use CEP to burn CD's for their mix shows utilizing the index marks. They do not want to have to save, exit out, and use another program.

My thinking is that CEP uses dll's or drivers that get overwritten by a different version or deleted (I spent some time chasing down the ATAPI drivers, but it did not seem related).

Does anyone know what CEP needs in terms of drivers and OS configuration to see the CD burner again?

We have various systems, but typically, they are using Win XP home SP2 systems and Plextor internal or Iomega external USB CD-RW's.

If anyone has any helpful comments or knows of a forum that might help better, that would be much appreciated.

Tried with some Wavelab version?

I havent seen a audiotool which can burn that indexes to a CD yet.
Except MakeCD which I had used on my Amigas.
