Hi, I'm a little new to the burning process any help would be very appreciated. What I would like to do is burn multiple episodes that are in avi format to a playable dvd. Do I need to convert them to a vob file, or mpeg? I'm not sure what the difference between the two is. What would I need to accomplish this in the easiest way with the best outcome.

I've tried convertxtodvd and tmpgenc dvd author, but I get this unusual message when I try to use dvd author I get this wierd symbol message, so am not sure whether it's my file, dvd author program, or convertxto dvd. So, I was thinking of trying other programs out there.

Thanks so much!

Convertx should convert the files to a video_ts and audio_ts folder that you can burn direct to dvd. It will convert the files to vobs, which is the same as mpeg. Can you watch the files? If not you may not have the right codec on your cpu. Download Gspot and see what info you get about the files.

There are a couple of free tools that make this process easy these days cfwb81.

Try DVDFlick or AVStoDVD. Both can take multiple input files, up to 8 I believe. Both will produce a finished dvd ready to burn, with or without a menu, and they can be set to burn automatically with ImgBurn.

I've used DVDFlick to do 48 .FLV's.
That seemed to be the max number with 49 I always got an error.
Of course the total amout of .GB was small enough to fit on a SL DVD disc.
So as long as the size of the multiples adds up OK it should do fine.

Hmm, I must have been thinking about FAVC. It only has 8 title slots in its menu creation.

Did you have 48 titles that you could access separately cholla?

@Kerry56; Yes the .FLV files were seperate ones from YouTube videos.
They are now 3.90 GB on a SL DVD disc.
DVDFlick created a menu with 4 thumbnails per page. You have to go to next page until you get to the video wanted. On a standalone DVD played .
On VLC you can just select by the title number.
There are 48 .vobs in the VIDEO_TS folder.

I thought I would add this because it probably applies to AVI files like it does to the .FLV files .
The size range of the 48 .FLV's is aprox. 2800KB to 26000KB .
The size range of the .VOBS after the conversion by DVDFlick is approx.
36000KB to 232000KB .
DVDFlick does have a percentage indicator so that is a good guide for when it is full.
However I don't think it's completely dependable since the size stays the same even when dual layer is selected.
