Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if there is a software that will allow me to adjust the gain, up or down, of an mp3 file. I think it's annoying after a while when you are listening to a songlist of mp3 files and all of a sudden one just blasts several decibels higher than the other songs.

I remember the good old days when I could set each song I was recording on a cassete deck with the level control. That way all my songs turned out with and equal volume level. No suprises. I've tried normalizing, but I don't see that great of a difference. I suppose some tracks are just too hot, or too week.

If only there was a software tool that could tell me what the norm is and bring my songs into submission that'd be great.

By the way, does anyone know what the industry standard decibel level is ( for both top and bottom)?

Thanks for reading this post, any help would be great.

Randy
