| Hello, New to the forums here. I was looking threw some of the post about burn times. I'm currently using nero 7 on both of my computers a desktop with a P3, and a Laptop with a core duo. And its taking about 1.5 - 2.5 hours to encode and burn a dvd. I'm burning 700mb avi files to a dvd. I want to know what kind of specs my next computer should have to increase the speed if possible, because i was seeing post that people had 7 minutes to like 35 minute burns? If someone could help me pick out the parts to buy, it would be great i'm looking to spend around 500 on the tower, with a new os. I was looking at: CPU : Athlon 64 X2 2.8 5400+ Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128342 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186155 HDD: 500GB Western Digital Optical Drive : LG DVD Burner Video : <Undecided> wanted to go with integrated RAM: 4GB's of Gskill ddr2 800 any help would be great, thanks in advance |

| Hi and Welcome! the most time consuming part is encoding if the source material is not already in DVD compatible format. The 7 minutes you mention, is plain burning time which should also be feasible with older hardware. I guess, the system configuration you mentioned should do a nice job. For the optical drive, I'd rather prefer an Optiarc 7240 or 7200 series drive or a Pioneer 216/217. Michael
