Taiyo Yuden is the most recommended type of cd. They are getting harder to find locally, but you can still find them under the Maxell Pro line and sometimes you can find old stock of Sony music cds that are TY. Look on the label of the cds and make sure it says Made in Japan. Taiyo Yuden are only manufactured in Japan.

It is easier to locate them online. If you are in the US, you can order them from rima.com or supermediastore.com.

Welcome to the forum

Definitely Taiyo Yuden

As Kerry said, look on the packaging for Made in Japan.

As well as the US links given above - if you're in the UK, you can often find TYs under the Verbatim brand (again, look for Made in Japan). And www.svp.co.uk have a huge selection of TY discs online.

Here is one link for NCIX: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...=Taiyo%20Yuden

This looks like a better deal, but I don't know this online merchant: http://www.blankmedia.ca/proddetail3.asp?id=1220

Or look through these: http://www.blankmedia.ca/prodsubcats.asp?id=111

Yo fredharvey-

Yup - you have true Taiyo Yudens if they have a 13 digit stamping code - usually with a number - letter - three numbers - letter - balance numbers - and a really shiny surface

If you haven't read by now - recommend burning your audio at 16x and your data at 24x for superb results-eh

(You may also want to try Exact Audio Copy - an excellent and free burning program you can find at www.exactaudiocopy.de )

Yo fredharvey-

Grab a fist full of Sharpies and write away - multi colors are cool too-eh!!

(btw - still trying to figure out why you would pay NCIX almost twice as much as Newegg wanted for the same exact CD-R's-eh??)

Yo-

Your money - not mine - however - Taiyo Yuden CD-R's from a reliable vendor are still Taiyo Yudens-eh!!

(btw - my 250 or so TY's could be called either light blue or light green - depending on the light - because the surface is iridescent-eh)

I totally agree with you but what i'm suggesting is maybe they are different type . I mean the ones I have are premium type . From what I see from this site is that TY do have different types . But I will next time view these other types . Thanks
