Just like many members of these forums, I'm also a member of several other forums and the general concept of these forums in theory is well represented in your statement. There is one difference. My observation is that most of the other forums have a friendlier atmosphere and camaraderie is more afluent. Egotism does not usually manifest itself in the form of rude critisisms, flames and "tear downs". Usually incorrect informatiom is clarified and corrected in a manner that gives credence to the assumption that none of us is infallable.
Upp3rd0G, this is not directed at you but your statement above describes the idealism that we should all strive for. It is unfortunate however that some people attempt to achieve this by belittling others in order to attain a more favorable status more true to the form represented in these forums. Truthfully, I can think of no other forum with a more combative athmosphere. The real tragedy is that the abundance of useful information contained within these forums is available at no other single site. It's such a shame that some of the people that possess that knowledge also posses attitudes to go along with it. Such is human nature, I guess. There is a vast amount of knowledge to be absorbed here and I think I will assume a more passive position from now on. I will simply sit back and read and observe.
