Newbie Forum Discuss, any good cd video software that can skip scratch or bad sector? at Starters forum; Hi, As we know it is very common to have scratch cd and normally video player will tend to hang. Is there are software in the market that can skip scratched area or bad sector rather than trying to get hang.

Try CloneCD with sector emulation.
Or there is things like disc doctor, its hardware but it is good.

It’s correct that Clonecd does a good job, when it comes to recovery of Scratched cd's, but it’s also important to have access to a good reader. If you’ve got a Plextor, or you know someone who has one, I highly recommend using it as reader. Especially the Ultraplex 40 does a good job for this kind of task.

Hardware solution 1 :
The toothpaste trick might be useful too (no joke). If your disk is full of scratches, these might be filled up with dust. You could try to put a small amount of toothpaste on your disk and clean it off with some soft material. Move from the centre of the disk and out, not in circles. Rinse it with some lukewarm water afterwards.

So far, I've had 100% success on over 40 cd's using a disk doctor. My nephew's play station games get scratched so bad they won't read, and one trip to the disk doctor, and he is back playing them again for months. There have been a few, that I've redone two or three times, and they still keep on ticking. For my own stuff, I've fixed scratches in cd's that my kids messed with (mostly games), and then made them a new working copy, and put away the original.
