I think the copy alrite but AOE probably just don't support Win ME. This is why ME is disliked, due to its lack of software support. Maybe a patch for the game will fix it, or one for your graphics card. Bottom line is, the copy is fine.

Hope this helps,

WinMe is not the problem. My sons and I run all the AOE games on 5 different pc's running ME.

I dont think WinMe is the problem either. As you said, the installation can not be completed. Supposing you have used the same back up cd for installation in both systems (XP and Me) all i can think of is using a different drive for installing the game in the Me system. Preferably the same drive you used for installing in the XP system.

It would help to know what reader and writer brand/model you are using. Also use latest version CCD. No need to use clony just use default game cd profile for read and write [use slow speed since you are having trouble]. It might be as simple as using different media to make a copy work on your ME pc.

Well, i meant you should take out the drive from the first sytem (XP) and put it in the tower/system that uses Me, where the game can not be installed. If installation is completed using the same drive on both systems, then you can conclude the problem is drive-related (most probable).

If this doesn't help, try using different media for backing up the game for your Me based system

well yes and no. cloney is not actually anything to do with ccd as such it just gives you an idea of what protection is present. My version of AOE age of kings is safedisc v1 and my AOE conquers expansion is an early version of safedisc2. Your liteon should have no problem at all with this protection. Read with your burner in this instance set read retries on *0* and hardware FES. no need to read the subs although i usually do just in case. Try reading it at 8x and then write using whatever speed your comfortable with. If you do have a different brand blank disc around just try it and see what happens. Goodluck
cheers

Clony and CloneCD are made by different people and are in no way related to each other. Clony is just a protection detector that passes the corresponding settings to CCD (not all of which are correct all the time). I suggest, since you know the copy protection the cd you wanna backup implements, downloading the corresponding CCD profile from the cdfreaks forum and just use that.

You don't have to change anything, these settings are "set 'n forget". Leave default as it is now.

It's a sticky thread in the CloneCd forum. Look around a bit
