| Today when checking the CDSpeed2000.com website for updates, I found mention of DVD-RW DL media. I found mention of such media on the net going back to 2005, as well as an article on CDRinfo from 2006 saying that +/-RW DL media is incompatible with hardware current at that time. Apparently, the first dual layer RW media was DVD-RW DL and was unveiled by JVC in mid 2007. So far, I see no burners on the market that support DVD-RW DL or DVD+RW DL media. Google product searches turn up results for products like this one, but the "DVD-RW DL" in the the product name indicates that the product supports DVD-RW and write once dual layer media, not actual DVD-RW DL media. I also see no DVD-RW DL or DVD+RW DL media available from any vendor. Does anyone know if these formats are actually in production, or when we as consumers will be able to buy the media and drives that support it? |

| And? Your point is? I already mentioned that JVC unveiled this in mid 2007. That (nor your single image / no word reply) does not help the fact that this media does not seem to be available for sale from any US vendor, nor does it seem to be supported by any current hardware. |

| I have questions for a similar JVC product: DVD-R DL. These discs are Made in Japan, are sold in wrapped jewel cases, and it's best used with the HD Everio Share Station. This discs are meant for recording HD video via camcorders (up to 40 minutes of HD data); although they can be used with DVD recorders that are compatible with -R DL format (i.e. Panasonic's DMR-EH75VS). These discs are quite expensive ($3.99 each), and I bought one out of curiosity since this is the first time I've seen MIJ DL discs (+R or -R). Does anybody know the media code for these? Are spindles available for purchase? How reliable are these discs compared to the cream (i.e. Taiyo Yudens)? Are these Taiyo Yudens? These are, indeed, available for purchase at Fry's Electronics stores ($3.99) & apparently at circuitcity.com as well ($5.99). Of course, they are quite pricey. But since they are MIJ, I do expect top-notch, exquisite quality. And I will save it for something special.
