Verbatim. Moser Baer vs CMC

Blank Media Discuss, Verbatim. Moser Baer vs CMC at Consumables forum; I would like to buy a big blank CD-R cake box to copy all my original PSX games and use the backup ones. So i can keep the originals long! In my local store there are two different Verbatims; Verbatim 700 MB CD-R Extra Protection, made by CMC Magnetics Corp.

I would like to buy a big blank CD-R cake box to copy all my original PSX games and use the backup ones. So i can keep the originals long! In my local store there are two different Verbatims;

Verbatim 700 MB CD-R Extra Protection, made by CMC Magnetics Corp. and made by Moser Baer, India. What would you choose? And why?

There are also Memorex (by CMC Magnetics) and Sony (by Sony Corp).

Unfortunately i couldn't find any TY in here. So, only the medias above, which one of them would be the best choice for my PS1 console and for its laser?

Check out the Sony discs (assuming you're in the United States) if the discs are Sony Audio, check the label for the Country of Origin.
If it says "Made in Japan" it's Taiyo Yuden.

Otherwise, I would recommend buying a quantity of Taiyo Yuden online, again to reduce the stress on your PSX's laser I did point you to some 650MB Yudens, but if you'd like 700MB ones at much lower prices check out this shop: http://www.genesysdtp.com/ (again assuming you're in the U.S).

Hi. Yes, in that thread i was asking for the best one, but now i wanted to ask which one of the available medias in here locally, is the better one. Taiyo Yuden i cannot find here in Romania.
I just wanted to know if there is any visible difference between Verbatim CMC and Verbatim Moser Baer.
The Sony is a white, 700 MB CD-R "Supremas" CD. There is no label. It is without box.

Neither Moser Baer nor CMC Magnetics worked well in my old Sega CD. That may still work in your PS1, but here is my experience.

Both discs would lock-up during video clips; I assume this is because (I'm guessing) the Sega's memory cache could not buffer the video, so it had to be read continuously from the CD, and the old laser could not read the disc well enough to keep up.

In any case, I do not think you will be happy with either make of CD. But it is still worth a try. If you can buy 5 or 10 of each type (CMC and Moser Baer) and try them, I would do that, but you may still end up ordering a better CD.

If you can find all-black Memorex CD's, they may be made by Ritek. Those discs work perfectly in my Sega CD.
