Wow. Hardcoat TYG03s. That's like blank media porn right there.

Seriously, hardcoat protection is something you evaluate based on need. Are you going to be burning disks that need to last while being abused by the clueless? If so, then hardcoat protection might help.

I haven't tried them, but those discs are also available from SVP in the U.K. for our European members.

I've used verbatim hard coat DVD-R before. It's not really that much more protective but is superior at stopping little scratches and scuffs. I use them for game backups, I like to be able to wipe away dust without making tiny scratches on the disc.

Another good thing about Verbatim hard coat media is that the discs simply look gorgeous.

I see a good disc and I want it painted black

They look great, but the bad thing is that those discs are almost impossible to label - you need silver/gold marker pens or similar to write legibly on them.

The 8x DVD-R Verbatim hard coats sold here in Europe are black, as posted above. Usually buy them (or archival grades) in 5 pack jewel case boxes.

I was going to buy a 5 pack but $7 shipping killed it.

I will wait to add them to my next order.

Lol I'd love to get my hands on that beautiful black media too neg Hehehe The white ink on black discs score +++ points for me if only because it looks really cool (disregarding the scratch guard aspect of it).

Also waiting for the TYG03 scratch-resistant scans!

You should have fired uranium hardened projectiles at it, bathed it in acid and put it on the barbecue afterwards to simulate the treatment a game or video backup would get from a couple of kids.

Nice results, looks like promising archival grade media.

Nice scans I must say. If only that was available in my part of the world. What console are these going to be used on? Does it read easily on consoles?
