Taiyo CD-R comparable to Maxell Music Pro?

Blank Media Discuss, Taiyo CD-R comparable to Maxell Music Pro? at Consumables forum; Can anyone tell me the product number of a Taiyo Yuden CD-R identical or comparable to the one they manufactured for Maxell as Music Pro audio CD-Rs? These Maxells have disappeared from the US market. Please note that I need to know about a triple-coated CD-R that is Taiyo's edition

Please note that I need to know about a triple-coated CD-R that is Taiyo's edition of the *Music Pro* CD-R, *not* the Maxell Music CD-R, which is currently retailed and is inferior to the Music Pro. THANKS

Does it need to be of a music type? They make a CD-R Pro, which is a TY disc with the tripple scratch protection, but it also looks like the Maxell "Photo" CD-R Pro is the same thing with a slightly different outer wrap (but the disc is the same). (These may not work with a home recorder tough)

You should be able to get the Pro's at Staples, and the Photo Pro's at Walmart. I have also seen them at Office Depot.

Sony still sells TY music CDRs in 30-ct spindles. I have gotten them at Staples and at Walgreens. No fancy coating, but the CDR is the same.

Those 30-packs are also available at Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Target. Surprisingly, Best Buy's price for the Sony TY music 30-packs is higher than even the price at Walgreen's. In addition, Target sells the Sony-branded TY music CD-Rs in 50-packs (for the same price as Best Buy's price for 30-packs of the same music CD-R).

And not all of Sony's music CD-Rs in 30-pack spindles is made by TY. A few 30-packs of those same CD-Rs are MIT, by whichever manufacturer shall remain unknown to me (since they are relatively rare compared to the TY made Sony-branded music CD-Rs).

As for the Maxell Music CD-Rs, the discs are sourced from several different companies -- primarily Ritek in Taiwan, although some packages made by TY have shown up at Wal-Mart.

As the TY-made music CD-Rs use exactly the same dye technology and formulation as their non-"Music" siblings, but are intended for different purposes, they are rated for up to only 32x burning (as opposed to the 48x or 52x maximum rated burning speed of their "standard" siblings).

Yes, I need the standalone Music Pro type audio disc, b/c I am dubbing a life's worth of live concerts from radio on cassette, plus some rare LPs. I do not have the money or time to invest in analog-to-digital software/hardware for my computer.

To answer other quibbles, I need the Maxell Music Pro 48x triple coated style of CD-R made by Taiyo, not a Sony version at 32x. And I have heard the frosted hub, TY-numbered Maxell Music CD-Rs, and they are inferior in sound and playing. I don't expect the Sonys, not labelled an archival CD-R, to be equivalent to the Music Pro. I could just as easily buy TYs to try, except I don't want to pay for 100 TYs that may sound like the Maxell Musics, which I despise.

You guys know everything - surely there's somebody who can tell me if the currently marketed Taiyo CD-Rs are the equivalent of the Music Pro or only of the Music type. I suspect that it is the triple coating as well as the dye that makes Music Pro superior. Could I use Maxell CD-R Pro in my standalone Onkyo DX-RD511? Only if somebody tells me how.

I use for my CD Recorder Genuine Taiyo Yuden (Type 1 - Audio media 32x - 79:59:73). It should be available in Online Media stores having Genuine Taiyo Yuden media. The European Taiyo Yuden Order code is CDR-A80ZZ100SK. Maybe you find a shop using Google? I don't know why but not all media shops having Genuine Taiyo Yuden media having this particular media. Maybe CD Recorders are not popular enough!?

Here is a burn of a TY Audio CD with my Plextor Premium II . The result is ok for me. Unfortunately I do not have a scan of a burn made by my TEAC CD Recorder.

For standalone recorders you have to use the for Audio CD-Rs. All other CD-Rs for PC or data will not work.
All TY made for Audio CD-Rs come from the same line at the same factory. If its a 48x disc then get any TY 48x for Audio. There is no difference between Maxell Music Pro 48x and any other 48x branded TY CD-R for Audio (meaning the dye and manufacturing process is 100% the same). The only difference is the design of the label but that will not have any influence on the recording itself.

I updated the package and it contains 8.21 from Buffalo and 1.21 firmware from Pioneer.

That may be true
(I can not cross check this, but I believe you since there is no large marked for audio CDs)

But it seems TY also makes 32x audio CDs or their website is outdated:
http://www.taiyo-yuden.com/media/lineup.html

Check the 3rd line in the table "Shiny Silver for AUDIO " only specified up to 32x

The ATIP of one of my TY audios looks like in this post:

TY produces 16x and 32x CD-R for Audio in both 74 and 80 minutes variations. I don't know about 48x ones since i have never seen those being sold at stores here in Japan. This does however not mean that they don't produce them.
