No, the strategy thing is a different thing, I think.
It's called Disc Quality in Nero, if I remember correctly. I never understood what it's about...

I'm not sure which HK company is making those discs for Sony, but many HK companies make discs with very questionable quality. (I hope it's not Infosmart, which has been famous for making DVDs with faked TY and MCC media codes...)

As kg_evilboy stated, media from Hong Kong is usually bad, so I wouldn't touch them.

Yeah, I had some Philips C08s, made in Hong Kong (before I knew any better) - they didn't last long, few months I think.

The scans were horrendous, IIRC. I didn't save any, though.

I think I may still have some from the same batch, I'll find them and scan them a bit later, if you like (they need checking anyway).

If it's reall then it's lead data. Who makes media for SONY.

Put the serial of the disc up and I probably could track it back if it's lead data.

We have lots of these Sony here in Egypt , they are as bad as it gets , I tried one with mp3 files , didn't play on my creative cd mp3 player .
In comparison to Benq CDR 52X Made in Malysia , Benq wins by a GREAT margin .

Here in Egypt we have to live with what is available

I have been using Benq CD-R in 100 cakeboxes for years now and it play just fine , I once tried Samsung slim case 10 pack and 2 became coasters with the other 8 became unreadable after few months .
You should see what I do with the Benqs , I can literaly find some under the bed with no case or paper covers and they still play fine

What the info tells me is that the stamper used was probably genuine.
But I can't link it back to lead data. Maybe they have a new serial system.(not that likely)
Let's see if I can find out more though my good friends at sony.

well, here in HK and China Mainland, for many electronic products, there are original and copy ones,if original, should be it is much better, usually many people here go to HK to purchase the original ones,it is good quality. Also many business people choose to buy copy ones to sell worldwide since it is cheap. Also during them, some with good quality, some with a little problem.
