It seems that everybody has their own opinions about this media. I came across this deal and thought that it was very decent. I haven't tried it yet since I just barely ordered the Nec 3500A in an USB 2.0 External Enclosure. Anyhow, take a look at the media at this store: http://www.store.yahoo.com/cdrdvdrme...ia-discs2.html
Selling for $29.50 for a 50 pack and with a $5 rebate until September 15. Seems like a great deal to me! Later.

Looks like a decent deal.
I've never ordered from or heard opinions on this shop though...

I am a newbie to cdfreaks.com. I hope not to get in trouble with the forum moderator but I am ready to accept constructive critisuim.
My question and reason for joining the forum is, what media if any, by Ritek is certified for use on the NEC 3500A writer. I have the list from NEC but there is no mention of Ritek and more confusingly, not much is said about the use of different media on the 3500. It is quite new and I have not even burned a DVD with it yet. I did manage to write to a CD-RW with good results.
Any experience you can pass on from your personal experience using Ritek media, you have personally used with this burner, will be appreciated. Positive or negative opinions are welcome and expected.
Regards, Nick

Welcome to the forum papanick!
The 3500A seems to burn most Ritek media very well.
I suggest you read up more on CDFreaks NEC Forum.

When it comes to the faster discs (8x+), the NEC 3500A prefers Ritek DVD-R (MID: RITEK G05) over Ritek DVD+R (RITEK R03) for now (until firmware updates change this), because the latter only burn at 4x max. (good quality though), while the drive allows you to burn the former at the full certified speed of 8x. The Ritek G05 are generally recommended, good quality at a decent price. The quality of the slower Ritek media often depends on the batch, but as far as the slower media is concerned, the NEC has no clear preference when it comes to Ritek, burning quality is usually good.

Getting back on topic, the media Nscythe mentioned is recommended for the NEC 3500A, and this seems to be a very decent deal indeed.

FYI:
A very similar RitekG05 100 pack deal (with rebate involved) can also be found at:

Nice find as well, Wesociety! I've shopped at supermediastore before. A lot of the times, they have terrific deals. Once I get my Nec 3500A, I'll have to try these G05 DVD-Rs. To tell you the truth, I wasn't even sure that Nec supported Ritek. I've read several posts in the Nec forum and there seems to be mixed feelings on the issue. Some say it's one of the best outside of the King "Taiyo Yuden." Others say they're terrible. Leaving any opinions behind, I just posted the link because the deal was very good. Therefore, those that like the discs can benefit from it. Those that are uncertain can at least try them out at a decent price. After all, Taiyo Yuden may be the best, but the best is still very expensive. I want performance for a reasonable/decent price. Of course, there will always be those that say "You get want you pay for." Later.

I've gotten 2 -50 packs of Ritek Ridata Branded 4X from supermediastore and I've been very happy with them. Almost no coasters (maybe 2) and great quality burns. Can't understand why people are bitching about 50 cent dvd's that have practically no issues...

To add a datapoint:
Ritek G05 will only burn well up to 6x on my 2510A. Stock code 2.16.
Hopefully it will do better on the 3500. I like the stuff, it just won't go the
full Monty on my drive yet. I don't want to mess with hacked firmware.
Worst case you can back off to 6x or even 4x. It seems to be very consistent for me - I would buy it again.

Nothing but praise for Riteks from me as well. However, I am using a Pioneer 105 burner. Anyways, the vast majority of people who use Riteks on late model NEC or Pioneer burners have great success with them. They are no Taiyo Yuden discs but they definitely deliver the best quality for the price. Anyways I pick my Riteks up from newegg.com. I trust them more than I would trust supermedia store.

I ordered a batch of these for my 3500 when I saw posts here on the deal on 9/1 and they burn very well. PI errors in the 30s and a nice level read. This deal is all over the place. If you want to only get 50 and a $5 rebate try merit line. Expires tomorrow.
