NexxTech DVD+R DL burning problems

I bought some Made in HK NexxTech DL DVD+R's because they are cheap. But none of my burners can burn them decently. The first layer is good, but the PI error and PI failure rate on layer 2 is extremely high. Is there any settings that I should use to make the layer 2 burn better? Thanks.

You can try some strategy swap with MCSE , but most of HK made DL media is crap and most likely it won't help you anyway

Re: NexxTech DVD+R DL burning problems

Just checked, my burner is a Sony AD-7170A/S (with Optaric firmware). So it should be supported. Which alternative burning strategy do you recommend I should try? Thanks for the reply.

What is a MID code of those NexxTechs? Ricoh? I would try a strategy for Plasmon3 D02-000, CMC MAG D04-000 or RITEK S04-066. But as I said before, it probably won't help you either...

They are RICOHJPN D01, which burning strategy would have the best chance? Thanks.

Re: NexxTech DVD+R DL burning problems

Just tried buring it with RICOHJPN D02-067 burning strategy, it came out great. Here's the scan result. I also tried re-installing the game, it worked fine.

I've got a 5-pack of these I bought at Circuit City. They show up as the RicohJPN D01, as above.

Tried an ISO-to-ISO copy, using DVD Decrypter Ver. 3.5.4.0, and got errors at the very beginning of the write cycle--never got to write a disc and try to play it, as near as I can tell. Though DVD Decrypter log said something about "writing lead-in", I can't confirm that anything was written to the disc. It shows as empty in two different PC DVD drives.

Using Windows XP, SP2, on custom-built MSI/AMD system, DVD drive is NEC ND-3500AG, Firmware 2.1A.

Other system is an HP Pavilion Laptop, DV9730US, running either Vista Home Premium, or XP, SP2 (dual-boot setup), with Pioneer DVD RW DVD-K17B (firmware version not identified).

Put the allegedly empty disc in a Philips DVDR 615 free-standing DVD recorder, and it spit it right back out--no message of any sort. Put it in my Toshiba HD-A3, and got a message on the screen "Disc is not DVD format. Cannot play disc." So, there's a chance that SOMETHING got written to it by DVD Decrypter. But, when I try to copy THAT disc in Cyberlink's DVD Suite (in Vista) on the laptop, that software says the DVD is empty. So, who knows?

Anyway, think I'll take these back to CC, and order a small supply of Verbatim's. Don't really have a crying need for DL; just thought I'd play around a bit.

Re: NexxTech DVD+R DL burning problems

They seem to be very dependent on using the right burning strategy, but yea, from what I've read here Verbatim DL discs are the best, if you can spend the money, definitely go for that. I just got some TDK DVD+R DL from CC (Ritek S04), they seems to burn fine (both layers).
