Blank Media Discuss, Newer Ritek Media at Consumables forum; That's very nice zivija. I like the balance of PIE and PIF. I just got a box of Ritek P16 in a 100 Pack of Ridata 16x discs from Newegg! Finally! I've been wanting to try this one. I'll post back with some scans. __________________ My favorite daily burning drives:

That's an exceptionally good result. Looks like Ritek may be improving their QC.

We won't know for sure until it has a few months of degradation. It certainly looks promising. This Ritek Xtreme +R disc was burned on a Benq DW1640 (actually a Philips 1648 crossflashed to benq) and scanned on a Liteon Lh18A1P.

Slight correction: I meant to say 'Ridisc Xtreme'.

Here is another one from the same spindle. This was written at 16x by a Liteon LH-18A1P. It was also scanned on the same Liteon.

I've never had a disc scan that well in my LH18A1P. I wonder what the jitter is like?

Any chance of a cdspeed scan with jitter?

I never saw such good scans until I tried that Ridisc media. Even my best Verbatim, TY and TDK scans are not quite as good.

I finally figured out how to enable jitter scanning

Perfect scans Would be cool if you could save a disc (or five) for long term testing follow ups here....

I decided to sarcrifice another one of the Ridisc Xtreme discs by trying the Create Disc option in CD-DVD Speed. I scanned the disc at 4x in CD-DVD Speed and Kprobe2. Scanning at 8x only gave a slight increase in PIE/PIF. Scanning at 1x gave higher PIE/PIF! I might try the same test with the LG GSA-H22N to see how it compares.

The discs are stored in library cases and then wrapped in clingfilm. I will scan them again in a few months.

I wouldn't throw out the word perfect so easily. Jitter could be lower. I've had discs with below 8% average jitter but that is with lower burn speeds. Not that I am trying to compete here or anything. For a 16x burn, that is spectacular. Even though jitter is about 9% average it's very low for 16x.

The digital errors are VERY low. Don't know how it would scan on a professional device, but I think it'd do quite well. If I were you, I would stick to that media, if it works well in your DVD players without any hiccups of course.

EDIT: Wow, just saw your post above me. The jitter is even lower again. This is an awesome result. I have to get some of these discs to see how they burn in my LH18A1P!

Hey skelton, I am wondering what kind of packaging the discs are in? Could you take a pic or show a link of the disc packaging since I can't seem to find any where I live.

Also, Have you tried lower writing speeds? I wonder if the results look as good at say 12x or 8x?

EDIT: Btw, don't hold back with burning some of those discs with the H22N and posting the results here since I also have a H22N

If you want Ridisc media, it's only sold in Europe IIRC. It still would be nice to have a packagine pic

I will try to upload a photo of the packaging as a JPEG. I have shrunk it a bit to save bandwidth. If anybody wants a higher resolution photo, I can send it by e-mail.

I burned at least one at 8X on the Benq DW1640. Results were almost as good as the Liteon.

I burned one at 16X on the LG GSA-H22N and scanned it with the Liteon. It doesn't scan anywhere near as well as the discs that were burned in the Benq and the Liteon. I will post the scan results today.

Ridisc Xtreme +R RITEKP16
Burned by a LG GSA-H22N at 16x
Scanned with a Liteon LH-18A1P at 4x

These are not the worst scan results I have seen, but they are relatively poor compared to the Liteon and Benq burns. I don't like the steep rise in PIE at the end of the burn.

Ritek P16 is thought to be sold under Office Depot 16x +R brand. videohelp only lists P16 as a possibility...

Might run down there this afternoon and grab a small spindle for testing.

Yup, and it looks good, so does the jitter in your 4x CD Speed scan.

I am dying to know what these would be like in 6 months

Well it it mean anything, I heard that Ritek use some sort of technology from fujifilm for their 16x discs, so they don't degrade.

I think that they only use Fuji OxoLife technology for RITEKF1 16x -R and RITEK F16 16x +R.

@ Arachne - those Traxdata's could be anything. If they're a recent purchase, these will probably be RICOHJPN R03, and I strongly advise binning them before burning because they have been so poor for me. There were massive variances between discs in all aspects

I want some of these RITEK P16 discs aswell. I honestly don't think they'll degrade.

Kevatcrewe, are you in the UK? These look identical to the ones I am using:
http://tinyurl.com/2rw2w9

The packaging and discs seem to be the same as my P16. I suppose you can't be absolutely certain unless you try some. It might be worth giving them a call.
