New to Quality DVD Media Purchasing, Need Help

I want to buy quality DVD media for archiving games and such, and I was wondering what products I should purchase. I've read that Taiyo Yuden is the best one available, and that Verbatim has sunken a bit in quality from India Disks. Can anyone post links directly to the product pages of definite Taiyo Yuden discs? Those TY disks are very good. The only problem you'll have with the shiny silver lacquer disks is the fact that they show fingerprints very easily.

The Verbatim disks should be fine. They may not scan as well, but as a general rule, they are good disks. Make sure to get the ones with AZO on the label, not the Verbatim "Life Series".

I think i read in the stickies here that the 8x Taiyo Yuden were discontinued or something? What is that about, if in fact these stores are still selling them? Any other online vendors that you would recommend besides these two, that you trust?

8x TY media has not been discontinued not that Ive heard of anyway
and lets hope not because I prefer the 8x TY media over the 16X TY
media any day of the week.

NewEgg is a very reliable source of Verbatim AZO brand. If your backing up data I'd go with the DVD+R's. For video and other use go with -R's. It's helpful to buy them when they go on sale and/or with coupon codes. Also recording at 8x vs 16x improves scan qualtiy for some burners even if the media is rated 16x (may not be the case with a burner made after 2010, or has less than 800 discs written/attempted).

Ex. Verbatim+R/-R AZO 100 packs: all-time low price $14.99, high price $28.99 (but usually found @ newegg somwwhere between).

There's been some debate about whether Verbatim AZO's or Ty/JVC premium will last longer under equal storage conditions. Then you ask yourself is the extra $10-$25 worth what your putting on the discs?
