| Saw some LG DVD-R 8x discs today for 12.95 (AUD) per 25 so I got a spindle for testing . Thought they might have been the rare one actually made by LG. Silly me didn't look at the packaging and it said MIT not MIK lol. I put the disc in and it scanned as CMC MAG AE1. The scans seem very good so far. I'll put some more pics into the tests section in a while. From the look of these, they seem like A grade ones since they all come out of the spindle with zero particles of dust and no dye streaks or anything weird. What's the general opinion on AE1 discs? Are they known for longevity etc (not that I really mind since these will be giveaways)? My scan pics are at the bttom of this page.

| CMC MAG. AE1 are decent discs and I'm sure they're a good choice for giveaways ![]() The LG media with LG codes (LGE08, LGE16...) are made by Prodisc, if I remember correctly.

- but C't climatic stability tests results were excellent for this media, same rating (++) than E01s, MCC02RG20, MBIPG101 R04....And I have the impression that most AE1 users here are mostly satisfied with this MID when sold under decent brands. ![]() Thanks for the scans - BTW I seize the opportunity to congratulate you for taking the time to perform both @4X and @16X scans for your reports, which is really great

| I have a few of these LG's too, though the label on mine says MIK: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread....&highlight=cmc Note that the high number of PIF in the second half of my scan is due to Vista not getting along with my hard drive (which I only found out later). Here's a rescan after 6 months (newer firmware on the scanner): |

| Thanks Cressida, good to know the discs are holding up well. ![]() @ Franck - No problem , I seem to always be doing a 4x + jitter then a 16x scan as well for discs I want to keep these days. If it's just a giveaway and I know they'll scan well @ 4x, I just do a 16x scan only. (these AE1's are for my parents, replacing their soon to die G05 discs ) So far I am getting some great results with my 111L @ 8x (errors levels very low and jitter ave below 8%). I'll post more results in the test section in the next couple days. The discs are also overspeed-able by my 111L and the LH18A1P (if I enable the liteon overspeed utility).

These 111 burners are outstanding btw, too bad I already have more burners than I need for now... (but if one of my 1650 units dies on me, the next step will definitly be a Pioneer... )

I recently got a Pioneer 111 myself, as an alternative to my BenQs. I would seriously think of obtaining a 111 soon if you want one as they ceased manufacturing AFAIK (my unit was from 6/06). Initial impressions are positive that at low speeds at least, it is a suitable replacement for a nexperia-based BenQ drive. AE1 has good stability in my experience, just not as near good consistency of E01 (much more 4GB+ issues). |

| A big WTF again @ LG writers and 8x DVD discs. I can safely add CMC MAG AE1 to the coaster list for the LG 4167B. The H22N actually does quite well @ 8x though. So for the 4167B coaster list (@8x) we have - MCC02RG20, CMC MAG AE1 For the H22N coaster list (@8x) we have: MCC02RG20, CMC MAG E01

I consider the LGE04 MID discs as some of the best discs I have burnt. I have burnt many over 2 years ago and all scan and TRT excellent. These LGE04's were infact made in Korea, as the last lot of them I got were in the cardboard box said this. So I would imagine at the time they were made BeAll were the only manufacturer of blank DVD's in Korea. I also have LGE08's that were made in China, most likely by Prodisc. These were ok but the packaging was cheap and I found more dust on the discs than normal. I wouls agree with you about the MCC02RG20's though. I burnt like 10 from a spindle, all were good discs with no defects. But they were terrible burns. |

| Wow..... take a look at the CMC thread if you want to see my latest Pioneer 111L results with this media. It's some of the best results I had with any media ever. This stuff is really good. Oh and I checked up on how these discs perform in professional scanner over @ cdrinfo, they are indeed pretty good. The reflectivity is high much like the E01 discs. CMC -R thread Pioneer 111L burn
