I keep hearing that the TY and MCC MID Code issue is really down to the laziness of the drive manufacturers in not making it easy to introduce new ones into the firmware of their drives.

How does someone submit their MID code to be included in a drive so this issue can go away? Surely TY and others should be pressuring the drive manufacturers to make this an easier process?

Also can the settings of an MID be copied? For example, if I could get my MID accepted (SBJ05) but my disks worked best with the recorder settings for TYG02, is there a way of using the parameters for TYG02 in SBJ05?
