Empty Cake Boxes. . .

| A few months ago, I threw away about a 100 50pcs and 30 25 pcs cakeboxes, and a few 100pcs cakeboxes. You could have had them all if you only told me. |

| I grab all my old test burns and old disks and slap em in the old cake boxes, makes em a little easier to deal with till I decide to shred or toss em. Mt keepers go into slim cases or my wallets for now, need a big case or something for those I think. |

| I keep all of my non-CMC cakeboxes (I prefer the way they look and stack). A lot of times they come in handy. I can't tell you the number of times I've found some old media in a retail store or on eBay, and the cakeboxes are broken, cracked, or whatever, so transferring the media to new ones is nice. |

| I guess they'd be useful if you bought a whole load of shrinkwrapped media... otherwise bin them lol That's what I do. Otherwise there's just way too many empty cakes around!

| we have weekly recycle pick up in my county. the plastic has to have recycle number of 1 or 2, my cake boxes are 5. now i could probably take them to the recycle center and be accepted, but for pickup they will only accept plastic 1's and 2's. so i just throw out the extras. i keep a few older maxell 50 piece spindles. i like the way they stack and the open/closing feature is nice too. very similar to the 100 piece TY spindles only in 50 piece.

| Thanks. ![]() Actually, here in Belgium I found no way to recycle my empty cakeboxes. ![]() Fortunately, I'm out of the video duplication job now, so a pile like the one above would occur again only in 4-5 years. This used to be the amount of empty cakeboxes every 6 months or so!

| Almost every plastic container has a recycling code molded into it. Look close. The clear tops are often PP (polypropylene) & the bottoms are PS (polystyrene). Sometimes there's a number in the triangle arrow indicating the class it gets recycled in.

| Here they now give us a BIG recycle garbage can and we can co mingle almost any type of recycling. I've just been chucking my unwanted ones in the can lately, if they don't want em they can sort em out at the recycle center where it all ends up. I don't do the dead disks, I just shred em and toss em in the regular garbage. I shudder to think how much money in blanks I wasted testing and making mistakes/coasters. I pretty much used all the cake boxes I need for now and just did a HUGE house cleaning so a lot of them went bye bye. Now the thing is finding a way to store all the media I've burned keepers too, all my media shelves are full... |

I find it vary rare that a disk has to get binned, I used them for testing error correction, and checking out drives, scratching up for EAC error tests ...things like that. Even so I must have about 50 empties stuffed behind the sofa but there is not much more room.
