New Intel processors will continuously listen to the voice of Windows 10 users. The processor will listen for the command 'Cortana, wake up'. Once recognized the computer will resume from standby.
Intel demonstrated the technology it calls 'Wake on Voice', during the Intel Developer Forum (IDF), currently held in San Francisco. In order to make the new feature possible, the chips contain a special module. The new module consumes only a little bit of power and is built-in the new processors.
The user's voice is processed and recognized locally and doesn't require an internet connection. It's unclear whether the voice recognition will work on all Windows 10 systems that are powered by a Skylake CPU or that the module requires a special microphone.
Moto X smartphones feature a similar technology called Moto Touchless Control. This works because the phones are equipped with a " super low-power natural language processor", as Motorola writes on its website. It's likely Skylake processors will have a similar module onboard.
Windows 10 also has the option to login with facial recognition. For this an Intel Realsense 3D camera is required which was again demonstrated in San Francisco but previously already announced at IDF Shenzhen earlier this year.

Intel Skylake processors are the 6th generation Core processors and the successor to Broadwell architecture based CPUs. The CPUs should consume less power while increasing performance with a couple percent.
