I recieved them this morning Here are the results of my first burn of the fake TYG02 Hyundai discs. With the TYG02 burn stratagy you will see that they are not exceptional discs but should be good enough for any home DVD players... I burnt this disc at 8x and will burn the next one at 4x just to see. I'm also going to try with an infodisc write strategy and maybe mmc untill I get a very good result.

liteon 2113@1653S CS09 ...
Anyway the burn at 4x was a disaster according to kprobe but is fully readable on my laptop reader which can not read a badly burnt discs...
I've just reburnt the same data at 8x with not bad results (same as 1st burn) I'm joining the 4x burn and am just about to proceed to another 4x burn to see if it was the disc that was no good or if they don't like 4x speed !

Folks! If you buy cheap off brand disks you don't know what you are getting. As for Fujifilm, they use a lot of Taiyo Yuden's and Prodisc's. I have exellent results with their CD's and DVD's. I bought a 40 (a special 30 disk spindle with 10 extra promotion) disk spindle at Kmart that were TY's for $8. Inexpensive doesn't mean bad. They burn at 16X on my Benq 1620 and their scans are exellent. Don't buy disks with names like budget, lazer, or sky. Who ever heard of those brands. Everyone has heard of Fujifilm. Their film is great too.

I bought one disc with the brand name of DEON with the TYG02 Code at $0.60, near the hub there is no TY or TYG code... so i think its fake but damn i was excited when i saw TY and then i saw this thread.. lol

EDIT: they sell dvd+r too, with the code of MCC003, fake too?

Probably. If their -Rs is fake, their +Rs probably will be too.

Fake MCC003s are around and, from personal experience, I can tell you that they are diabolically bad media.

I have also concerned about identifying medias having fake MID codes
I like also to see the error rate on scans that this fake produce ...

I have not noticed many scans of burns made with a fake published in the 6 pages of the present thread (only 1 made with Nero and some others with KProbe)

Does somebody know where I could find:
- a larger amount of these terrible scans made on burned fake
- and especially Plextools scans ?

My plextor (Genuine TY. ) disc's don't have TYG code in the hub CLEAR printed.
The YUDEN/ TYG code is a MID and can be found with DVDindentifier/dvdinfo pro/cdspeed. This is what's being faked.
So if you could post the real serial in the inner hub of the DEON disc's I could verify if they are correct ot not knoweing TY serial numberering system that is.
So just send clear number inner hub and the numbers at the underside of the media. (Close to the plastic hub) and you will get back if you got the real stuff or not.

About MCC003 currently there is a some fake MCC003 floating arround however there is even more MCC003 floating arround that is made by MCC partners (prodisc/CMC) but is for b brands and has huge quality fluctuations.
So actually the bigest part is legit but still the perfomance can sometimes be very questionable.

Also in the MCC case I could verify the point of origin probally (CMC, MCC, Prodisc or fake)

I currently pay 0.45 euro for Fuji TY so $0.60 should be possible.

Question have you actually misstyped the name and shouldn't it be TEON ?

In the TEON case I can verify that the MCC003 media is legit it's comming from CMC and the Taiyo Yuden media could be legit. They have sold real Taiyo Yuden befor.

At first glance it does, but the holograph-style serial number printed on the outer hub area will settle it. What is that number?

i hope somebody can help me.

i have bought 50 discs (described as taiyo yuden 8x) from ebay. the holographic serial numbers on the inner hub are TG001133 and 0712.

because the serial numbers are known TY serial numbers and they are also in holograph form i think that they were made by TY.

the problem is that they don't look like very good quality. the die looks like the rings of saturn and the edge of the discs have ripples.

i have verbatim pastels that are made by TY and they look great - the die is shiny and flawless and the edges have no ripples.

do you think i have bought a pile of reject TYs?

I think I got hosed but figured i'd check with the bright minds of the forum... got a spindle of (supposedly) Taiyo Yuden but when I let DVD Decrypter ID it, it says it is:

MEDIA ID-001-00

Something smells here, am I right?

yep sure does and it begins with sand ends with twith it in the middle.
it should read T01 or T02 for +R and TYG02 for -R.

try nierle.com(show media code and generally tell you when it is fake) , opus.nl (don't warn about fakes just show media code but their fujifilm 8x dvd+r should be true TYs), I would also be greatfull if anyone could post some good media shops that post to europe... thanks

Good shops that post to europe. Well for Dutch and Belgium folks I recommend cdrwinkel.com good prices, good products and good info. If it's fake they will say so.

And the owner of the company said in post #42 that they don't buy fakes. On the site it says they only buy from genuine TY distributers.
