What's the ATIP code and brand name of the media you bought?

If you have Nero, Nero InfoTool will tell you. Under the Disc tab, it will say something like Manufacturer ID: Ritek (97m15s17f).

Alternatively, download Nero CD-Speed 2000 here and see the Disc Info tab.

My bet is that you just got a bad batch of discs; I've had good results with black CDRs in the past. (PNY-branded, Ritek manufactured)

"All-use" CDR's are audio-compliant discs, and will be firmware limited to 16x in most drives.

Yes, way. It varies from drive to drive. 16x in some, 32x in others, but "audio" discs are speed-restricted.

Coul you elaborate? Please try giving as much info as possible when asking for help. "Cannot burn" doesn't mean much. We need the exact steps you take, which software you use, are you trying to burn data or audio, what is the error if any, etc... etc...

Audio CD-R's are speed limited? I never knew that. Thanks for the tip.
