Blank Media Discuss, Best discs for long term use on a lite-on 832S drive at Consumables forum; Sorry to jump in here, just a quick question... I've got a LiteOn 832s, will this burn MCC 03RG20 Verbatim's as well as MCC003, or at least nearly as well? Last edited by DrageMester; 27-06-2006 at 03:11 . The 832S firmware doesn't support MCC 03RG20 so they may simply fail to burn or the quality will probably be very bad. MCC 003 would be a much better choice if you can get some.

^ Damn! There goes that Verbatim deal I was going to get then! I know they'll work perfectly on my Pioneer, but they needed to work on the LiteOn as well

These discs should be okay with the LiteOn 832s, shouldn't they? http://www.jpldisplays.com.au/catalo...roducts_id=667
These were the ones I was talking about buying. I think JPL gave me the wrong media code because 8x is MCC 02RG20, not 03...

Presumably yes, because the 832S supports that media code and in my experience that is good media.

By using the Search function I found two posts regarding burning MCC 02RG20 on a LiteOn 832S drive, one said they burned excellently and the other said the opposite. Not having an 832S I can't say for sure.

The earlier LiteOn drives often preferred DVD+R media over DVD-R media, and you can actually get Verbatim 8x DVD+R media (MCC 003) from the same site you linked to:

^ Yeah, I've been having a look around at what I can find of scans with the 832s with this media, seems more positive results than negative. Also they will be burned at 4x only on the LiteOn, so they should probably be okay for sure.

Oh and is there anyway I can tell if these are made by CMC... because if they are, from what I've read, I'd stear clear of them.

With regards to +r, I know they sell them, but they don't have this deal for the +r's like they do the -r's. I was trying to buy a bulk amount of media for my Pioneer and the LiteOn...

Usually, I'd say "why?", but my 851@832S didn't burn CMC too well (CMC MAG. E01, anyway).

However, for newer drives with better support for it, CMC does a fine job.

I just dug up two old scans of Verbatim 8x DVD+R (MCC 003) Made in Taiwan (Not sure whether it's CMC or Prodisc) burned in a LiteOn 851S crossflashed to 832S firmware.

The results look good to me.

1st scan is of a disc burned at 4x with CG5G firmware
2nd scan is of a disc burned at 8x with CG3E firmware

Hehe yeah, I should have put "prior to using the CG5J firmware"

Nice scans BTW

Thanks! Those do look nice.

I suppose the other option is I could see if they'd do a similiar deal for some MCC003's since both the LiteOn and Pioneer will eat those up nicely. Pioneer likes both - & +

Verbatim branded MCC 02RG20 (8x -R) discs burn fine in my 832S if that's any help to you.

The 832s that will be used does have CG5J firmware, so I guess I'll try these for it since JPL said no-go to getting the +r's on such a deal lol.
