Hello everyone,

I have found recently that my drive (NEC 2510a) really likes Ritek G04 DVD-R and gives incredible results, but I have less success with DVD+R disks (bitsetting to DVD-ROM). I know that DVD+R bitset to DVD-ROM has the best compatibility with desktop players, but how much less compatible are DVD-R's? Wasn't sure if people have had experiences with players that would play the bitset DVD+R's and not play DVD-R's?

Is it still worth bitsetting or are most players compatible with DVD-R and DVD+R without bitsetting?

Thanks for any help,
Tom

I wouldn't say DVD-R, is worse than a Bitset DVD+R for compatability. Only really old sony dvd players, that I've seen have issues with DVD-R.

Hi Jamos,

Thanks for the very quick reply and that is the answer I wanted to hear! :^) I can stick with my DVD-R's and not worry.

Cheers,
Tom

Trust me, dvd+r set as dvd-rom through bitsetting is by far more superior to dvd-r. I have a second generation toshiba dvd player, and it wouldn't except any kind of recordable dvd media until I used dvd+r bitset as dvd-rom which worked flawlessly. Dvd+r media bitset as dvd-rom is the only way to go, universally compatible.

Not quite universal, but close.
