Remove scrolling text from videos

Is there any way to get rid of the annoying scrolling text from DVD; which serves the purpose of advertising, they are at the bottom of the movie! If its just for a second, I can put up with it but it comes through out the movie. I don't mind re-encoding. I'm just looking for a better method, as I don't think cropping would do the trick, because a considerable part of the movie will get cut. It might look crap. I would appreciate any help.

You need cropping and re-adjusting the res.
