I have the Pioneer 106s DVD (f/w 1.22) and it's region-locked. I've just taken the patch to make it region free. My problem is that (maybe I'm stupid):
I have winXP Pro and using a win98 boot floppy or using a boot floppy created by winXP I can't see the DVD drive when I reboot my PC, I can only see drives C: and A: !
My questions are:

1) Is it normal with winXP?

2) Is it necessary to see the DVD drive in DOS mode to apply the patch or I have only to run the patch from C: or A: using the correct code for the IDE channel in wich the DVD is installed?

Thanks!

Bye

Thats strange as I just recently upgraded the same model and same firmware under win XP about 5 days ago. It detected it fine.

Format a system disk using win98 and copy the firmware files across and boot off the floppy and try again!

@bretella

Hi ! The same place www.firmware.fr.st where you've dld your ( I guess, 1.22 RPC-1 ) patch from,
has another tiny prog called FUPW2K
You can either get it there...
...or click here for downloading it directly http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/multime...fupw2k_108.zip

And you then easily will be able to patch your drive in Windows - a piece of cake !

It's too late in my case,
the patch 1.22 RPC-1 does its business well
