Please Help: Can't burn DVD in Pinnacle Studio 12

I can not get my studio 12 to burn a DVD. IT renders the effects, writes the files, writes frames, writes the final files, writes lead-in...then I get the message "Burn failed, make sure to use an empty or eraseable disk".

After contacting their support I have, used all types of disks + / - & rw I have the lastest version. I can burn dvd'd with other programs. I have loaded and unloaded the software. ( I get the same error message on 2 computers. (Windows XP with plenty of ram and horsepower.) I caan write an avi file and play that in windows media player, but I would like a dvd.

I have burned many dvd's with my Studio 12, so not sure what the problem could be. What dvd burners are you using? What brand of media? Do you have specialized dvd softwares on your pc, or softwares like Daemon or others installed..

I have a TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-H653Q SCSI CdRom Device
Memorex, Maxell. I just purchased a cheap version of Rixio to burn cd's and I can burn a DVD with tat product.

Neither memorex or maxell are considered to be very good quality dvd's. Try using Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden and see if that helps.

Hi Planodave - did you resolve this problem. I have exactly the same issue and have also been going through support with no luck.

Even though it has the burn error at the end, and I can't play the disk on other computers or DvD players, I can (about 50% of the time) play it on the computer i burnt it on.

just now bought and I cant get pinnecle 12 to burn either - same problem any response yet?

Really not sure what your problem could be. I've successfully burned 3 dvd's with Studio 12, and there are no problems.

I am having the same problem. All aspects of Studio 12 are working properly, and I have no trouble burning a DVD with NTI DVD maker, or DIVx player. My drivers are all up to date. This is clearly a problem with the software (and maybe a conflict), because the discs I am using and other burning software have proven to be fine in other cases.

Hi,

a general workaround would be to let your software create an ISO image instead of burning a disc. Then burn the ISO with a known-good burning software (many user here - me included - recommend ImgBurn).

After trouble with Studio 7, 8 , 9, I gave up on Pinnacle. Then I purchased a Pinnacle USB device for converting VHS movies, that didn't work either. Never buy anything that says Pinnacle on it.

I now have version 12.1 - I still have the problem where i cannot create another dvd from a pinnacle created one. Either using copy dvd with various utilities OR from an ISO created by pinnacle OR oher utiliy.

Please tell me if Pinnacle has fixed this - I have 60 hour edited project at risk.

Yes i was Rob. OK now. Sorry I took so long to respond - been away. I simply re-rendered the project into a fresh ISO file, burned my dvd, used that dvd with IMGburn to create a new ISO (just to test). Burned another dvd from that ISO.

All Good now. Something must have been screwy with the original ISO or project.
