What would You do , to get a perfect picture when using HDMI-cabel
(and upscaling to 720/1080) to a large flatscreen ?

Could I use any videoediting software like NERO with this encoder
or CCE-basic with DVD Rebuilder + AVIsynth + ?
Or what would I need here ?

Sorry , I´m slightly confused about all this stuff , so I appeal to
the real Maestro´s in here , please help me (and others ?) !

24gb avi files... OMG!

If their playtime is 2hrs, just use the best DVD template and convert it to DVD.

I might do it wrong (getting AVI-files through NeroVision , choosing DV type-1) ,
but what else can I do ?

My confused question was : Can I use a better encoder than Nero´s built-in ?
And would it (example CCE-basic) give better results with DVD Rebuilder + AVIsynth + ?

But thanks for a quick response !

DVD Rebuilder is for compressing dvd9's to dvd5's, it wount touch an AVI. Your right about Nero's encoding though, it suc's bigtime IMHO.

I would recommend trying The FilmMachine, uses any version of CCE (not sure about CCE Basic though) and gives fantastic results. Another alternative is DVD2SVCD using its AVI to DVD template, here you can edit the AVISYNTH script to include what ever filters, etc you desire. Check out the tutorial section.

Thanks for advises , ChickenMan , but ...

The FilmMachine doesn't use CCE Basic ...

Anyway , now I purchased CCE-Basic (58 $ !) and it has transformed a 2h./24GB AVI-file
into a really beautifull looking 2h./7,9GB MPEG2-file (CBR 8500 took 1h30m) ; so how
do I proceed if I want to avoid Nero's encoding , You mention DVD2SVCD ,
though if I got this ready-made DVD-9-size MPG-file there must be an easier way ?

And yes , I will of course look in the tutorials ,
but it seems a bit tricky to find the right "spots" !

Thanks for helping , everyone !

And this works with CCE 2.50 & I think it can be adjusted to use later CCE versions & I think this is covered on the website.. When I use it I use the D2SRoBa front-end.

When you save your AVI file you can generally use a compressing video codec that won't materially affect the quality but will reduce the file size. Go for about 1 GB per hour & the XVid codec if that's an option. This can also help with conversion as far less data is being processed.

Where do all You people get the money to buy CCE 2.xx = CCE SP = 1.950 $ ???

All I'm asking (look at the thread-title !) is what I can do with CCE-basic ?!

RESUME :

I purchased CCE-Basic and converted a 2h./24GB AVI-file into 2h./7,9GB MPEG2-file ;
so how do I proceed now that I got this ready-made DVD-9-size MPG-file ?

If I use NERO , it will start encoding my already-encoded-MPG-file and I can't
use DVDrebuilder and I suspect not DVD2SVCD either ; isn't there any program
making a "DVDplayer-playable" DVD9-disc out of an 7,9 GB MPG-file ?!?!?!

PS : I think Saddam will critizise You too , jockthecock ,
in the court-trial , when he sees that costume !!!

What we're talking about here is a DVD Authoring program. I'd recommend DVD Lab. A full 30day trial is available here with the full product costing $99.

Give it a try.

There must be some free ones around but I can't find any.
