on the Bitrate setting page, you have the option to change the media type (74, 80min, DVD, etc). Change it to 80 min cd - Posted:

I looked at that tab but it was so confusing..it listed 74 min and 80 min settings but there were like 8 values..do I set them all to 80 min or 800???

That is probably the most confussing page in DVD2SVCD. You actually read across the page from left to right on one line.
If the movie was, say, 120min long then look for the line that starts with
Between 100 and 125 mins. Use 2 CD size 800 The last numbers are the bitrate if you were to make a SVCD, so just ignore them for VCD.
But setting the CD size to 800 (80min CD) for a 120min movie will end up putting 80min on one CD and 40 min on hte next. Prabably using a CD size of 600 (60min) would be better so you end up with 60min of movie on 2 CD's. If the movie was 90min long you would end up with only 10 min on the 2nd CD if you entered 800 as cd size.

thanks that was very helpful....So if I wanted 60 min per cd as you suggested I just manually enter 600 and I would get 2 cds with 60 min each..very cool and easy...I never even noticed it was reading left to right...I am a moron..I was reading it down and not paying atttention __________________

Yep, set to 600 will cut a 120min movie into 2 equal halves of 60min each..
Your not allone in not "seeing the light" in that Bitrate tab, took me awhile also. Its really one of the most useful screens and influences the whole use of dvd2svcd as it sets the bitrate ofr a SVCD and "chisels in stone" the bitrate for a VCD.
