firefox has an extension that i use called ietab. you can set certain incompatible sites or just right click the link and open those sites in an internet explorer within the firefox window.

it's very convenient and you still get the best of firefox.

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

I personally only use Internet Explorer 6.0 for Vantage upon almost completely trusted ground. These sites happen to sometimes have somewhat more trouble with other browsers I normally use, like Mozilla Firefox. Then again, I pretty much barricaded my IE tight enough against the risks it is exposed to where I still use it.

Honestly, the best protection against Spyware is putting security to full, block all third-party cookies and putting a popup blocker on. The second best protection against Spyware is not being a retard and paying for your damn software appliances and give illegal sites, like those displaying cracks and serials, a very, very, very wide birth.

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

Been a Firefox use since it came out. Can't stand IE now but's a necessity for those XP security updates and some sites who mandate it.

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

Go to Start>all programs>internet explorer. Right click it and one of the options is delete.
I have not done this, as I still have IE on one computer, but I delete tons of things that way.

Also you can try Start>control panel>add or remove programs. On the left one option is add or remove windows components. Click that and one of the options is IE.
Again I have not done this either. On the computer that I am running Mozilla, I still have not deleted IE, I just set Mozilla as the default internet browser.
Thanks Mike

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

first method mike1061 offered simply deletes the "shortcut" to IE i believe and really isn't doing anything...

second method may work, but i would highly suggest that anyone using WinXP NOT "uninstall" IE since it's an integral part of the OS (more than any of us may think) and could seriously bork your system...

just don't use it to surf the web...it doesn't take up much HDD space anyway...

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

When I tried the first method, it did not give me the message that I was only deleting only the short cut. On some items I do get that message, though.
Thanks Mike

Since I use Win 2000 I don't need IE for downloads. I haven't even opened IE for years. Firefox all the way.

Firefox is good, but so is Opera. I'm curious about IE, but there is no version for Linux.

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

I didn't read all the posted comments, but Firefox is so much faster, especially on forums. Perhaps people should make sure there settings are all correct on there browser's to make sure it's a complet and fair test.

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

I'm using FireFox all the time and I see no problems at all.
Also working with forums seems to be faster then on IE... Well, maybe its not true but I see it this way from the practical side.

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

Hi
Just two things.
IMO mozilla is better than FF.
With IE it takes 0.01 sec to load a page within a forum. There are times when due to demand on server this is longer. But this affects all browsers. What I'd like to know is how anyone gets FF to load quicker (0.01 sec is the quickest measurement available to me). I've used Mozilla & FF & the quickest is around 0.07 sec. Still pretty damn quick.
Used latest version addons etc.

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

isn't FF the exact same thing as Mozilla sans the advanced e-mail and newsgroup client, IRC chat client, and HTML editing capabilities? they use the same rendering engine i'm pretty sure.

explore about:config and realize the true power of FF/Mozilla.

Re: Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

I have been using Firefox for several years now. I love all the customization it allows by its extensions. I use IE once in a while, especially on sites that require it. I guess as long as we use Windows, we'll be stuck with IE, but I really do like Firefox.

get the IEtab extension for firefox.

i haven't opened IE in over a year. I can even do my windows updates through IETab in firefox. if that isn't proof that ANY IE-only site can work with IE tab then I don't know what is.
