OCZ shows new Vertex 460 SSDs at CES 2014

Last year OCZ released the Vertex 450 SSD series consisting of a Barefoot 3 M10 controller coupled 20 nm IMFT MLC NAND.  At CES 2014 in Las Vegas showed the successor of the 450, the Vertex 460 series. These SSDs are based on the same controller  but use Toshiba's 19 nm MLC NAND. The drives connect to the PC using the SATA-3 interface and come in a 2.5" form factor.

OCZ specifies sequential speeds of up to 550 MB/s and random reads and writes of up to 95,000 IOPS. The drives should become available in capacities of 120, 240 and 480 GB. The drives should become available later this month, pricing information is unavailable yet.

The fact that the SSDs now use Toshiba NAND is likely the first sign of the recent acquirement of OCZ by Toshiba. OCZ had significant difficulties in getting a steady supply of NAND, and because Toshiba manufacturers its own NAND this issue should be solved now.
