| Hi gang, I'm getting an Unreal 2 Genaral Protection Fault error installing-> Error=Data error (cyclic redundancy check), if you couldn't tell by the Subject. Just reposting this to the right forum. My error also happens at the last % of the installation, just before the DirectX files start installing. Once the installation aborts there are no files on my PC (or at least the FAT doesn't think there is). --The installation was sucessful on a desktop Athlon 800, WinME, mostly generic parts. ---The install failed on a "refurbished" Sony VAIO laptop PCG-GRX500P, WinXP. Yes, most of the refurbishing done was changing the File system over from NTFS to FAT32. Is this my HDD or the media, or maybe an XP compatibility thingy... | AFAIK that is an error when installing from a backup that was not backed up well enough. In CloneCD terms, not enough sheep. Sometimes a 1 sheep burner will backup a game with Safedisc even though the game requires a 2 sheep burner but it only looks backed up, the files are there, but the install craps out on you. It happened to my friend, but I forget which title (I can find out). I had backed it up for her in the end with my new Litey.
