Re: What would you do

SP2, as mentioned in a number of threads on this forum, has been working flawlessly, on my systems.

Re: What would you do

Because of some security reasons I'd go for SP2, but if you want to be sure everything works, I'd rather go for SP1 first, install and test everything, make a backup and then install SP2 (so you can revert back to SP1 if nessecary).

Re: What would you do

since there is no sp2a, i'd say its doing pretty well. after you disable all the nag screens about security anyways.

the only problem is that sp2's uninstaller is notoriously bad afaik. i do have sp2 on 8-10 machines with no probs, all varying hardware.

SP2 has been working great for me, did a fresh install about a week ago with a slipstreamed CD. Big thanks to those at CDFreaks who posted guides and resources!

So you did the full SP2 install, not the truncated version on the MS update site?
I have the full developer version (all 270 or so meg) on disk.

If you're behind some kind of firewall and don't use IE you'll be fine unless you tend to run unknown programs etc.

Re: SP1a or SP2?

I went with sp2 since my system was due for a fresh install. Not to mention I was also swapping my mobo from a failing via kt266a to an nforce2.
I don't use the improved MS crapwall, as I have no need for it.

best of luck!

Re: SP1a or SP2?

No issues with SP2, runs the same. And if you don't digg it then you can uninstall SP2 and it will return all your originall setting back.

Re: SP1a or SP2?

Just wanted to say thank you for all your help and thoughts. I have been off last couple of days bringing this new monster into the world. And it is a monster. Even pushed my limits at times. What took minutes now takes seconds. Im very impressed. Ill punch out some Plextor data as soon as I get the time but so far it is looking good. I did go with SP2 because it found a bunch of stuff SP1a did not and it seems to be stable, no issues so far. Every so often one finds a group that knows their stuff and shares it with the world, Im very happy to be here. Thank you again. Ken
