| I'm using Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista RTM in a dual boot configuration right now. I love the new Vista version and want to remove the XP version from my HD. Configuration now: On my HD there are 2 partitions 1st = Windows XP Pro (fat32) 2nd = Windows Vista RTM (NTFS) How can I savely remove XP from my first partition, enlarge the second partition and have one large partition where I can boot Vista. Any help is welcome.

| I had the same problem. I've solved the problem with the free prog. vistabootpro. http://www.pro-networks.org/ It's very easy and it doesn't take much time. |

| I used vistabootpro but you have to know what you are doing. 1- you have to make another entry into the menu with Vista being your legacy OS to boot from 2- restart the system, go to XP and copy the 'boot' map from your XP partition over to the Vista partition. 3- also copy all the boot files from the XP partition to the Vista Partition. 4- after that you have to set the Vista partition to 'Active' using 'Computer Management'. 5- restart the pc and remove the XP partition from your HD. 6- now start your pc and if everything works ok you boot Vista from the Vista partition (it worked for me). Update: I tried to move the Vista partition to the beginning of my HD but that didn't worked So for know I went back to XP (had a Ghost image ). Maybe the best way is to make 1 partition and do a clean install (without XP) on my PC.

Used it to remove Vista and it's increasing annoyingly impossible (more so since Vista RC1 installs itself as the primary OS) to get rid of OS option.

It's like...It makes me feel alive, you know. It makes me feel human. The only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt something really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good. So I guess what I'm feeling is like a beautiful sadness. Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air. I am so glad that GWB's 8 year COD game is finally over. The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. | I like fresh installs. I'm just wacky that way. ![]() Normally, I will do say a Windows 98 SE config, then GHOST that image. Then do a Win XP config and GHOST that image. Then instead of dual boot, I just boot to CD or floppy, restore the image I want to the boot partition and I'm good to go. Not as fast, but much cleaner. |

| VistaBoot Pro is a useful piece of software which I found a few weeks ago, but if anyone is looking for another boot manager/editor I recommend EasyBCD. It is pretty much the same as VistaBoot, but supports new entries for operating systems like Linux Homepage & yes it's free
