Perhaps, like the Start button in Windows 8, this isn't a bug at all - Microsoft simply discovered that users weren't using the Inbox, Contacts, and Calendar at all and they decided to improve things by removing them?

Agreed - a bug as dumb as this should not be in a Customer Preview. On the other hand, users should be aware that this is a beta release, and that it should not be used as a primary email or calendar tool. I plan on installing this on a laptop that has Win 8 Release Candidate on it. It is not my primary PC. If a user wants to safeguard against this happening, they should make sure that the option to delete email from server when deleting from Outlook is NOT checked. I don't know how this bug might impact the Hotmail contacts or calendar. Hopefully, this will be fixed sooner than later.

Bug will be most likely addressed in SP3. Unfortunately, you'll need SP3 to install SP3. Hail Gates and Company.

ROTFLMAO.

The problem is that most people have long histories of email that are no longer on the server.

I'd hope that users would back up their files before experimenting with Microsoft alpha software.

You're exactly right, debro. And to go one step further, don't be using alpha software for productivity work in the first place.
