There are numerous users who report they have serious problems with their Nvida GeForce RTX 2080 Ti video cards. Besides complaints on the official GeForce forums, there are also Reddit users who complain about the same issue. The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is currently Nvidia's most expensive and powerful video card of which the Founders Edition is sold at around $1,200.

Reports are mainly about the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition, but there are also reports of issues with the RTX 2080 Ti cards of other vendors like Asus, EVGA and Gigabyte. Issues range from freezing computers, graphical artifacts and even entirely broken video cards. Some Reddit users report that after exchanging a faulty RTX 2080 Ti, their replacement card gave similar issues again. Users with issues state they haven't overclocked.

German website Heise has contacted Nvidia which stated, “we are working with users individually but we are not seeing any broader issues.”

The fact that mainly owners of Founder Edition cards are complaining, is likely because these cards are currently better available than other versions.

The culprit of the issues is currently unknown. There are many speculations that it could be either driver issues or an issue with the power supply. Also, faulty GDDR6 memory is frequently mentioned as a possible cause.

Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is powered by  the TU102 Turing graphics chip manufactured by TSMC. The GPU contains 4352 NVIDIA CUDA Cores running at a base clock frequency of 1350 MHz. In turbo mode the clock speed can be increased to 1635 MHz. The 11 GB GDDR6 graphics memory is connected to the GPU via 352 data lines and it can achieve a transfer rate of 616 GB/s.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti should provide enough power to smoothly render current games in 4K.
