Manhunt installation problem

Hi all, I just recently purchased this game for my pc and I could not even install the original game disc 1. First of, I insert disc 1 and let it initiate installation through the wizard. Then, less than a minute later, this appears under the InstallShield Wizard Completed window "The wizard was interrupted before Manhunt could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click finish to exit the wizard." This happens everytime I automatically or manually try to install the game. I even returned the game to the store and got me a new replacement and was still having the same problem . I checked for any program running in the background but found none. However, I am wondering if any of these program (Alcohol 120%, BlindWrite5, Daemon tools & a bunch of game detectors/scanners) are in conflict with installing the game and if I should uninstall any of them. Finally, my pc spec can run original & copied games like farcry, splinter cell, battlefield 1942 and more superior games. Therefore, I doubt that manhunt will be a problem for my pc's resources. Lastly, this is the only game I ever had a problem installing in the past. Sorry for this very long reading, but if you have any idea what the heck is causing this problem, by all means, please enlighten me. I am cursing this game right now and are ready to just move on.

Re: Manhunt installation problem

"I could not even install the original game disc 1"

This alone signifies this is not a backup problem, if a game won't install or run from an original, its a software problem.

Thread moved.

Re: Manhunt installation problem

So you also have problems with the original. Hmm. Have the checked the disc surface for any obvious scratches/marks/dust?

If you purchased the game recently, i suggest returning it for either a refund/exchange/replacement.

Do you have a LiteON reader? If so, try installing from that.

Re: Manhunt installation problem

No, there are no scratches on the surface of the discs and these discs are very new (2-3 days since purchased). As I indicated, this is the second time I had to go to the store and had it replaced for a new one. And yes, I do have a a fairly new black lite-on drive an LTR-52327S. Also, prior to installing this game, I made a succesfull back-up using Alcohol 120%. However, it's all good for nothing if I can't even install the game from the original discs. Still, I'm hoping you guys have some info to what I can do to resolve this issue, cause next time I go back to the store, it's not gonna be a replacement but a refund.

Re: Manhunt installation problem

Some of the new software will not install if you have emulation programs running or installed,,try disabling any virtual drives and or uninstalling any progs that use emulation... if it works after this I suggest taking it back and getting a refund because the software companys should not be allowed to tell us what we can or cant have running on our PC

Re: Manhunt installation problem

Thanks plimo, I will try this method as soon as I get a chance at it. And thanks ckin2001, however, I doubt that games with securom 5.03 could possibly be interfered by any processes running during installation by the fact that I have no trouble with installing and playing with other games that has such copy protection.

Re: Manhunt installation problem

I finally got Manhunt installed in my pc! Thanks to all who gave me much help to my problem, especially to the folks at support_desk@europesupport.com. They gave me authorization to post this solution here on club cdfreaks's forum, and here it goes:

Go to start>>run and type:
msiexec /unreg
Press Ok

Go to start>>run and type:
msiexec /regserver
Press Ok

Insert Manhunt CD1 into the CD drive.
Double click on My Computer then right click on the Manhunt CD.
Choose explore.
Double click on isscript9.msi then follow the instructions on screen to install

go to start>>run and type:
msiexec /a X:\Manhunt.msi
(Replace X with the letter of your cd drive)
Press Ok

When the installation wizard appears click next. It will ask you for the
installation location. Click browse then type the following path for the
installation:
C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Manhunt
Press OK then carry on with the rest of the install

If you still encounter problems with the installation of manhunt you will need
to speak to your system administrator / computer manufacturer regarding
administrator rights and access on the PC in use.
