I have just built a new machine to run Mandrake Linux 9. My H/D is 60 Gig (Not formatted yet) Do I partition the drive into 2 x 30Gig drives?

How do I format the drive for Linux, I know how to format for Windows straight from the CD or a startup disk in either FAT 32 or NTFS.

Any help would be most appreciated

If Windows Vista is the answer, how stupid must have been the question?

Hi Mr Belvedere

Thanks for your help, I have tried what you said!

When my machine boots , I get the Linux Startup Screen, I press enter to install, I then get the following error message:

Error in exec of stage 2

Trying to execute '/usr/bin/uninstall2' from installation volume
the following error has occured FATAL ERROR IN STAGE1: Not a directory

I can't recover from this:
You may reboot you system

Can you throw some light on this

Many thanx

run your .iso files through the md5sum checker to check if the downloads are correctly (you can find the correct md5 checksums at the mandrake website or usually any ftp site which has mandrake for download).
