after you use whatever program you're using to convert them to dvd what format is it giving you?

if it's an ISO file of the movie I strongly recommend ImgBurn to burn teh disc.

if it's giving you VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders then you can burn that with ANY data burning software and burn the folders as is to the disc.

avi is not mpeg2 which is on DVDs, so a conversion is inevitable.

ummmm?

I'm pretty sure Convertx to dvd is a pay program. is that some sort of trial serial? if not, you're probably about to get banned...

you should check the forum rules...probably not a good first post dude.

Hi This is Jackie's boyfriend

I understand that someone posted a bad prog? (not legal I assume)

Is there a alternative?. She just wants a prog to convert *.avi to a format that any set-top DVD box can understand?

*** If anyone posts a prog make sure you dont get banned or get CD freaks into trouble (Assume this is why he banned and post removed) ****

Re: i wanna burn avi on to a dvd-r or dvd+r so i can watch it on a dvd player

Yeah, pretty scary to have someone banned in your thread eh Jackie! ConvertXtoDVD one of the better known programs for your purpose, but not free unfortunately. Should you have a full version of Nero, I think even NeroVision can do this. As freeware avi2dvd comes to mind, but I don't really do this kind of thing myself, so I'm not sure how good it is.

When you say you've already converted them to DVD files, what program did you use and what do these "DVD files" look like? (We don't need to know what content you are trying to burn, but the format/extension of the files would be useful to know )

The program (CopyXtoDVD) is legal, but it's a commercial program, not freeware, so you have to pay for a license.

Someone posted a serial number for this program, which is probably illegal but certainly against forum rules.

Part of the reason, yes.
