| I HATE my employees I own a small business in the Houston area, and I have 2 comps, one in the office and one next to the register. Well my problem is, is that the employees need to use the computer for many work related thing, but at the same time, they use it for many non-work related things as well. They go on to random websites, update there face book or myspace, and all this really doesnt bother me as much as them deleting my files or programs as well as installing new programs. So what I need is a program that lets them use the net and use already installed programs but keeps them from deleting or installing anything else. P.S. I am looking for something reasonably cheap, I am not gonna spend 1000 bucks on software.... I am the LAW. |

| Re: I HATE my employees Hi AStoopidPerson and welcome to the forum You can create a guest account for your employees, which will have restricted access to folders etc. This process depends on the operating system you are using. Please give more information. Quite a strong title you have used there though

| Re: I HATE my employees 1st: Don't let them use an account with administrator rights For protecting your software, use the free Microsoft tool called SteadyState For prohobiting your employees of downloading porn, playing world of warcraft or updating their stupid social sites, use the very free (as in beer) and very fast website www.opendns.org. If possible set up your router to use the opendns dns ip adresses. This may sound very confusing, but read the website, it's pretty easy. Make sure you don't give your passwords (opendns account and modem) to untrustworthy people. Oh, and give everyone their own local account, so you have control on who fucks up and who doesn't.

| Re: I HATE my employees Good tips, Mr. Belvedere ![]() A little more info on SteadyState: It is regularly used in libraries and schools, can be configured to enforce policies (e.g. only allow certain software to run) and undoing all the changes is as simple as rebooting the PC. |
