| How can I transfer/share files on my home network? Say for instance if I wanted to send something from one computer on my home network to another. I'd have thought it'd be quite simple, but I don't want to rely on anything flimsy like MSN Messenger (which is what I've used thus far). I'd ideally like to be able to access another computer's folder from my machine without having to request it to be sent. Cheers for any help! |

| Re: How can I transfer/share files on my home network? I've just set up the same thing myself with my two PCs, but I think there are probably better methods than mine (though it works perfectly). Do you have a router or switch with your computers connected to start with?

| Re: How can I transfer/share files on my home network? Set simple file sharing on the HDDs & then map the drives in Explorer & just copy them as you would on a single PC. |

| Re: How can I transfer/share files on my home network? ^ There you go, that's an easier option than the way I chose (though I set them up in under 10 minutes)

| Re: How can I transfer/share files on my home network? You can also access the drive/folders without mapping with: From PC1, in Explorer type: \\pc2\c --> accessing PC2 drive C. "PC2" is the computer name. Just make sure you have the same username and password on PC1 and PC2 so you don't have to enter username/password all the time. Also in the sample above you need to enable Sharing and Security for drive C in PC2.
