Re: How to burn MP3 on DVD to play it in CD player?

DVDs generally don't play in a CD player. Lots of car CD players can play MP3 files. That's what I do and get about 10 hours on a 80 min cd. But my deck can handle MP3s. Burn the MP3s as data and it'll work.

My car CD player will also not play MP3. What I do is to rip the audio CDs as MP3s, and then burn them to CD as CD Audio files - that way your CD player should recognise them and also you should be able to get a lot more music on one CD

Your problem will be that different lasers are needed to read a DVD as opposed to a CD. CD players don't read DVDs. If you have one of the DVD players that reads MP3 files it would be possible, but not in your car.

Hi elcabrera and Welcome:

The responses in this post and the discussion in the following thread should put the question to rest.

Unfortunately that isn't possible.

CD players that only support the Audio CD format are limited by the 80 minutes or so that can be written to such media.

You can get up to 90 or even 100 minutes with special CD-R media, but such discs may or may not be playable in your CD player.

So you'll either have to live with the limitation of you current CD player and Audio CD format, or get a new player for your car.

A year ago, I was faced with the same dilemma. I had the original Clarion deck that came with my car and it wouldn't play burnt cds at all. Since I won't play my store bought cds in a car stereo environment, I went deck shopping.
I bought from my local auto supply store, a cheap $79 (on for half price) Nextar cd player that plays burnt mp3 cds, however, it also has an aux input jack, USB jack and an SD card slot. Well, after thinking how useless an SD card slot was, I now have 3 X 2GB sd cards chocked full of a gazillion hours of music, and have never even used the cd part of the car stereo.
There is whole albums I have never heard yet, beats the heck out of a binder full of cds and, it sounds better than the Clarion ever did (maybe not saying much)

I am going to try this and see how it works out. Burn mp3's as audio files.

I'm sorry but that doesn't make any sense - you'll end up with an Audio CD again which can only hold about 80 minutes of audio, but as result of using MP3 as temporary format, you will have lost some audio quality in the process.

So no advantage gained but some quality lost.

Lose the steering wheel controls?

Several companies offer "interfaces" that will interconnect between medium to upper end car stereo head units allowing them to function with the original steering wheel mounted controls in many common cars.

CD-players will not play DVD discs.

However there are car stereo units that WILL play DVD discs
loaded with mp3 files and even DVDs on either a flip out screen or
an external monitor.

one particular unit jumps to mind... the MEX-DV2000,
a 2007 model year Sony (still commonly available on ebay) .
this unit will take up to 1000 mp3 files on a DVD-R disc
(Exceed 1000 and it won't display the track title)

You just need to shop around a bit to find a unit that suits your needs/wants AND that you can buy a converter/interface to let
you control the unit with your exsisting controls.

Yes, I did not think that would work. Burn mp3 files as audio.
