| I use NTFS, just because when I use my Premiere to capture movies I am not burdened by Fat32's 4gig limit (4gig=~18min). Ahh the joy of capturing a 60min tape in one pass. It's like a dream come true...

| I used NTFS for a couple years but I kept running into a problem in which the security descriptors would become corrupt and then all my data would just get crapped on. After losing everything time and time again...I decided I'd go with the older but easier to fix FAT32. Why doesn't microsoft use the bitchen filesystems that linux does... I vote for XFS. |

And mounting can take forever.

| I use them both.... on small partitions, containing important data (documents), I use FAT32 (in case of a crash, the FAT32 partitions are accessible from within DOS/Win9x, to secure the data). On big partitions, used for video editing and such, I use NTFS.

| Code: 1. I use win98 on daily base, winxp only for burning and Internet since win 98 has more compatibility and faster even on 256 MB ram, while some burning program need NT engine. 2. My XP run on FAT32 since when things goes wrong its accessible though DOS, FAT 32 has no RollBack like NTFS but when things going wrong at least I can get c.a. 75 - 80 % of my file back. Think if you have to do this on NTFS

When I tried installing ME over 2K, I got a strange error saying could not create boot partition blah blah...and the Setup quit. Any ideas whether this is possible? |

| NTFS is more efficient on big capacity drives & you lose little space. I have a feeling that it is also faster than FAT32.

| i read also that NTFS is better for handaling large files for some reason buti forgot why... (i do not mean that ntfs can have file sizes bigger than 4GB which is another plus over fat32) since most on these foums have cdrws and make images often which are bigger than 600MB i am not surprised most use ntfs. |
