It's like Mozilla without the addons (which you can remove anyway) and with a more XP-ish GUI. I personally perfer Mozilla with the breeze theme.

Mozilla is a suite. Much like Netscape used to be. E-mail/composer/browser/...

Mozilla Firefox is a simple standalone browser with a slightly different gui than the one shipping with Mozilla. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

much like Firefox, there is Thunderbird, which is a standalone e-mail client.

There is no 'better' because they are essentially the same.
I'm using Firefox because I only needed a browser. If you are moving from IE, then you probably want this. btw, For the few pages that are IE-only, I have a firefox extension which added a right-menu option: "Open this link/page in IE" (http://ieview.mozdev.org/)

You can on the other hand only install the browser in Mozilla suite which wasn't possible with Netscape if I remember correctly.

There is no such a thing as better, there is merely what is preferred, as this is a personal prefernce. Unless of cours eyou ask something very specific like which of the two have better/faster load time for web pages, then you are now comparing fairly - which is better?, based on given criteria.

I personally still use IE, for the simple reason, there is really nothing wrong with it.

What security issues? How many people do you actually have known to have gotten hacked by using IE? I used it for years, and recently over a less secure wireless internet scenario, living in NY, one of the most overcrowded cities with people looking to scam other people on an everyday basis, with also having many many friends in the IT field, and I have yet to have security issues that caused me harm, or anyone I know.

Blaming security issues is just something people do because they are aware of them. Since soooo many people are common everyday users, IE is probably used by the overhwelming majority of the population... >80% I would say, and any security hole is quickly picked up on and patched, how do we know if any existing secutiry issues that exist in Firefox or Mozilla??? So few people use those borswers, if you ask any common PC user what Firefox, Mozilla, Opera...etc.. is they look at you like you're from another world.

Microsoft takes it's sweet time patching IE. For instance there was a security issue recently that took 2 months for MS to patch. As for security in Mozilla/FF, last issue was patched within 24 hours.

Mozilla, Firefox, opera are all superior to IE. The only reason IE is used at all is because "it's there" no other reason. Do you think anybody would download or buy such a low quality peice of *i say this lightly* software, NO WAY. It's like using public transport when you have a ferrari in your garage. It runs faster and looks a hell of a lot better.

I have tried both mozilla and firefox and I prefer(big word) mozilla I had trouble using some of the extensions in firefox, and I could not get all the pages to show all the pics. This may be fine with some tweaking. For instance I souldn't get the Ebay.com page to load the pics. Also could not get the firefox calendar to work. both have very good pop up blockers. could not smooth scroll with firfox either. Mozilla is my choice.

Firefox? - still Beta and cant even sort bookmarks!
Mozilla includes an web page editor - nobbad, but cumbersome to use and somewhat incomplete. However, Mozilla can sort bookmarks properly

Well, yes.... Actually I've seen several being infected by worms due to IE's stupid bugs. I think have a screenshot of such a page still here somewhere, I'll see if I can find it. And as for Mozilla's and Firefox's you have a bugzilla which is updated frequently.
I also agree with slayerking, people only use it because it's there, if it weren't "no one" would use it.

FireFox, simple, quick, does what I want. Mozilla is nice if you need a nice email client but don't wanna use (read: smart enough) the MS Outlook crap.

Thanks for the heads up Doug. I searched around for something similar and for the life of me, couldn't find anything.

Back on topic, I use IE but am leaning more toward FireFox. I have used FF in the past and like it alot.

DL the Sort bookmark extension.

The reason I like Firefox so much is that it is so costumizable with the extenions.

Firefox... Mozilla is just too much. I like slim software, as it saves CPU cycles, memory and harddrive usage (and thus performance).
