if, by accident , i start IE, my system suddendly loks up: monitor goes in standby mode (just as if i turned off my pc) and there's nothing to do but resetting everything.
right now i'm typing on msn explorer (which is bringing me multiple ulcers, btw...).
i don't want to say that it *is* ie's fault, but every time i tried this "experiment" i f***ed up my working session.
not a temperature issue, i guarantee, as i have plenty of fans: cpu runs @ 48°C, mobo @ 28, hard disks are cold when i touch 'em.
please help and, if you can't, at least suggest me a *cool* browser.

Try Phoenix.

But if IE is messed up , it's probably something to do with the windows filesystem tools suchs as explorer.

If Windows Vista is the answer, how stupid must have been the question?

yeah, there must be something wrong with the system. my friend had the exact same problem one time; he reformatted and everything was back to normal.

Are you on dialup or broadband? If you're on dialup, try another modem or moving the modem to a different PCI slot and force a reinstall of the drivers (don't use the existing drivers in the Windows directory).

If you're on a broadband connection, do the same as above for the NIC...
