Closing a full CD-R

Recently I was helping a friend with a new CD-writer and I was showing him how to write a data CD. I wrote a DivX to a CD as an example and, seeing as the writer came with Easy CD Creater, I used that rather than the software I'm used to. As such, I missed the close session option, which was unchecked by default.

Now this was a 700 meg CD-R and a 700 meg DivX designed to fit on exactly. So I ended up with a full but unclosed CD-R. All CD writing software I've tried says that the CD is read only, probably because it's full and, hence, I can't close the session.

Could this be closed by overburning? If so, how can I get software which supports it, such as Feurio, to write to the CD-R as even it sees the media as read only?

Unless you selected multi-session during the first burn, the writer, or rather, writing program (EZ CD here), will recognize the CD as closed. If you're anal about having a closed CD, use a better program, ie, Nero, and burn the divx file again.

He,

Doesn't the program auto-close the cdr when it sees the cd is full?

Auto-close

Nope. It's what you'd expect. It's what any half-decent program would do.

But EZ CD Creator doesn't.

This was more of a technical question than a practical one. Writing another CD is easy enough.

Thanks
