Re: CDR's and Red Book

There is a good explanation of red and yellow book standards (along with green, orange and white) here

Re: CDR's and Red Book

A CD-R is not Red or Yellow book but Orange book. It may contain data that conforms to the Red or Yellow books though. Some high end CD audio players/recorders might only record to CD-Rs that have the proper bits set to indicate 'Audio CD-R' but I don't think they are so common. Home stereo CD players will usually only play CDs that conform to the Red book (even if they are actually Orange book CD-Rs). A PC CD-ROM drive will normally read either.

Re: CDR's and Red Book

Richman, then how does one create a CDR than conforms to the Red Book, or Orange Book
does one consist of audio only and the other data only

thanks, rockin

Re: CDR's and Red Book

Correct.

But you need not worry about conformity details. Pretty much any CD/DVD recording s/w will take care of them after letting you pick what kind of disc you want to create.

There is more good info in CD-R FAQ.

Re: CDR's and Red Book

Sorry for raising this VERRRY old topic, but I have a question:
Can I find somewhere the Orange Book disc specifications, wishfully in all parts?

The reason is: as I know, the ATIP manufacturer information was established in these specifications, correct? So I just would like to have the complete manufacturers list and their ATIP codes.

Not very long time ago I found that document, but had imprudence to delete it. Now I want to find it again, but can't. Can someone help me?

I also thought that way. But Wikipedia turned out to be useless.
Or maybe I was ignorant?

Sounds logical but never have seen such a list in the public, would be surprised it were released as such...
