| Best FLAC Encoder Converter for Audio CDs & DVDs I'd like to backup all my CDs to FLAC. What would be the best process? Which apps? I prefer that that the apps automate as much as possible of the steps.. (I used to do CD > mp3 half a decade back ..and had CDex / Audio Grabber that would CDDB extraction of track information followed by inclusion of mp3 encoder such as Fraunhofer or LAME and get entire album with right information in mp3 tags) I am a little out of it now so if someone can point out: Best FLAC processes & apps that would be great. PS: Also if at the same time as doing the FLAC I can get simultaneous mp3 copies or if I can do mp3 conversions on the fly easily later that would be great. |

| Re: Best FLAC Encoder Converter for Audio CDs & DVDs My suggestion is a two steps process. First step: extract audio data from the CD with Exact Audio Copy (simply press the IMG button on the main window: this will save a large WAV file on HDD) Second step: convert data into FLAC with the FLAC Frontend, available at FLAC developer website (simply drad the WAV file into the little window, select the compression ratio, and press the Encode button) Both softwares are free

| Re: Best FLAC Encoder Converter for Audio CDs & DVDs You mentioned CDs & DVDs in your original post. To clarify, did you mean making DVD-Audio discs or Audio DVDs? Both of these are discussed in the following thread: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f57/audio-d...e-them-149312/ If you wanted to extract audio from a concert DVD, that is a different story all together. There are tutorials on the this site and on the Internet on how to do it. Make sure you find the one that deals with the type of audio you're wanting to extract: LPCM or AC3.

| Re: Best FLAC Encoder Converter for Audio CDs & DVDs either use EAC or dbpoweramp...since these are the only secure rippers for windows (?). I would personally use eac since dbpoweramp doesnt support cuesheets...if you do flac+cue you get all the correct gaps etc. go to hydrogenaudio.org tons of information there
