What's the best way to burn an audio CD?

By ripping to mp3's and then burn them to an audio CD
or
by ripping to .wav and then to CD?

Is there a difference in quality between those two methods?

Don't think there is any difference, at least I don't hear any. The problem with converting the mp3s while writing is that I get a lot of buffer underruns. So usually I convert them first

when you convert audio first to mp3 you lose quality depending on the bitrate you choose.

SO it is better to rip the audio cd to wav and then burn the wav to a cdr(w)

Feurio and EAC are good programs for this

Thanks for the help , i've been using CDEX (with lame encoder) to convert to .wav , maybe i'll also try EAK which is free.

By the way , is Clone CD good at burning audio CD's or is it better to use a program like eak , feurio and cdex?

There has been a debate in the burning software forum about this( http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?threadid=49570 ) and i think the members who are debating there are in favour of feurio for the burning.
You can also rip with feurio but you can also rip and burn with eac.
I should say you should try them both.
I wouldn't recommend clonecd for audioburning (it has been designed for backing up protected cd's while feurio and eac have been designed for audioburning)

Why can you not just do a simple disc to disc copy? Do you always need to rip the audio to wav, then create an audio disc? Or can you not just pop in your source, open up EZCD and create an Audio cd?

if you want a very GOOD copy and you do not want problems...DO NOT copy audio on the fly

Read this post for an explanation of why you should rip with EAC (or Feurio or Plextools). Burning is less critical because it is less error prone.

Never do disc to disc copy for audio, always copy to your hard drive first.

Don't convert to mp3 in the middle.
